Raymarine signs agreement with World Cruising Club

January 2012

Raymarine, the world’s leading manufacturer of marine electronics, safety and communication products, has signed a Corporate Membership agreement with the World Cruising Club, the largest organiser of international sailing rallies in the world.

This new agreement sees Raymarine providing support for the seven annual rallies organised by the World Cruising Club (WCC) which sees over 450 boats and more than 2,000 people from 36 different countries taking part in worldwide events.

Established in 1986, the WCC rallies now include two transatlantic rallies, the ARC and ARC Europe; two European rallies, Malts Cruise and Rally Portugal; and two North American rallies, Caribbean 1500 and Atlantic Cup; and a circumnavigation rally, World ARC.

Participants in WCC events are encouraged to attend ocean sailing forums and residential seminars in the UK and USA. The Ocean Sailing Forums are designed to help first time and experienced sailors understand what equipment to choose, and how to get the best from the navigation, electronics and safety equipment on board their boats. Raymarine will be providing technical advice and support at the Forums, and the company sends its technical support teams to the start and finish of all WCC rallies, providing last minute hands-on technical support and training. The first Ocean Sailing Forum in 2012 takes place at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show on Saturday 7 January.

Fiona Pankhurst, Head of Corporate Marketing and PR, says, “Raymarine has been involved with the World Cruising Club for many years and we are delighted to sign this agreement for Corporate Membership. We know how crucial it is that sailors in the rallies are confident that they have the best equipment on board, that it is working correctly, and they understand how to get the best from the navigation, communications and safety equipment before, after and during the rallies.

With this agreement, Raymarine’s full technical support is on hand at the start and finish, and at pre-rally forums and seminars in the UK and USA. We also benefit hugely from user feedback, and a key aspect of our relationship with the World Cruising Club is that its members sail over 1.5 million nautical miles of offshore sailing every year, making this the world’s biggest marine development laboratory.”
