Raymarine announces inaugural Raymarine J/80 Championships

Raymarine is proud to announce the company’s sponsorship of the inaugural Raymarine J/80 Championships. A season-long series of UK-based events, the 2014 Raymarine J/80 Championship starts in April with the Warsash Spring Championships, moving on to the J/80 Nationals in Poole and the Royal Southern Yacht Club Regatta in May. June sees the 2014 Raymarine J/80 Championship take in the JP Morgan Round the Island Race, followed by the J-Cup in July, culminating in the last weekend of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week in August. The J/80 is a highly successful One Design with over 1450 J/80s sailing world-wide.

Swedish top angler in new partnership with Raymarine

Raymarine is pleased to announce that Johan Abelsson, one of Sweden’s top fishermen, has become the company’s latest fishing ambassador.  Abelsson, a charter captain and professional fisherman of over 30 years standing, spends over 150 days a year at sea in pursuitof his passion and speciality; salmon fishing in the Baltic. This spring will see Abelsson on international TV as over 25 million viewers get to follow him in an exciting new project – up to15 episodes of pure fishing direct from Russia.

Raymarine’s Racemaster first across the line as Geoff Carveth wins SB20 World Championships

The UON SB20 World Championships, held at Hamilton Island in December 2012, saw one of the closest fought series of races. The event concluded with Geoff Carveth’s British WKD team sailing into the SB20 class history books to be crowned SB20 world champion for the third time. With the leading SB20 boats and crews so competitively matched, one of the advantages used by Carveth was his Racemaster compass from Raymarine which provided essential data from the race course.

World leading marine electronics manufacturer Raymarine is pleased to announce it will be supporting the 2013 RYA Yachtmaster Instructor Conference as the title sponsor.

The 2013 RYA Yachtmaster Instructor Conference will be held at the Marriott Highcliff Hotel in Bournemouth 26-27 January 2013, with guest speakers Roger Towner, Chief Examiner and Registrar of Shipping for the Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Richard Haworth from High Latitudes.

Andrea Mura Selects Latest Raymarine Electronics On Vento Di Sardegna In Preparation For 2012 Twostar

With a class win in the Route de Rhum, Italian Andrea Mura in his Open 50 Vento di Sardegna, is probably the fastest monohull entered in the 2012 TWOSTAR race. As part of his race preparations Mura has chosen to fully upgrade the Raymarine electronics onboard, with Raymarine’s new i70 instruments and p70 autopilot control heads. Mura and crew Riccardo Apolloni will also be using Raymarine’s TH24 Handheld Thermal Imaging Camera on board for additional safety and visibility at all times of day and night.

Jock Wishart and crew rely on Raymarine

Jock Wishart and his five fellow oarsmen have achieved a world first by rowing 450 miles to reach the recognised (1996) position of the magnetic North Pole*. The ‘Old Pulteney Row to the Pole’ was an extreme feat of endurance, as the team rowed the specially designed ‘ice boat’ equipped with Raymarine’s safety, communications and navigational equipment to arrive at the Magnetic North Pole’s certified position of 78° 35.7N 104° 11.9W at 1230am GMT on 26th August 2011.

It may mean “More haste, Less speed”, but Festina Lente ensures its AIS is fitted in time for Rolex Fastnet Race

Raymarine Ambassador Philip Meakins and his Sigma 38 Festina Lente has just had its new AIS650 installed in time to take part in the Rolex Fastnet Race. This year, the RORC rules has specified that all yachts competing in Categories O,1 and 2 are required to have an Automatic Identification System (AIS) transmitter on board.

Raymarine re-signs solo yacht racer Katie Miller as Ambassador

Raymarine UK, leading marine electronics manufacturer, has re-signed solo yacht racer Katie Miller as its latest Ambassador. Katie was the youngest woman to ever participate in the Ostar Trans-Atlantic single-handed race, and is now preparing to take part in the TwoStar Transatlantic race, a legendary double-handed race that has been resurrected for 2012.
